NYE Rideout
Well it seemed like a good idea at the time! During the 'Twixtmas' break, our secretary, Chris, had a look at the weather forecast for New Years Eve and it looked good!! Posting an 'Event' on Facebook resulted in half a dozen E-YARD members braving the glorious sunshine but bitter cold for a final ride out of the year! Chris noticed that other groups, ARNY (Advanced Rider North Yorkshire RoADAR) and HERAM (Hull East Riding Advanced Motorcyclists IAM) were also planning simila

View from the Chair - A Christmas Message
"2017 is drawing to a close. Hull has the future after UK City of Culture to look forward to, RoSPA has the next century of safety campaigns to work on and E-YARD has………..grown!! 12 months ago E-YARD was almost unrecognisable compared with today. Whilst numbers were increasing, progress was steady, and the days where the group nearly folded were still fresh in the memory of some members. Nobody wanted to return to the dark days in the ASDA training room when those who attende

Christmas Message from RoADAR HQ
Dear Chairman and Secretary, I trust you are well, I want to take this moment to thank you, committee members and tutors throughout the network for all your dedication in helping individuals take and pass the RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders test in 2017. 2017 has been a year of great progress, together as a team we have implemented a final Group Accreditation Scheme that fits all. Throughout the consultation it was great to see so many individuals at RoSPA HQ and talk throu

Just a little more good news....
E-YARD's Ian Speight today joined the 'Gold' club! Ian passed his RoADAR Car test with a great drive around the still chilly roads of East Yorkshire! Ian is the Training Officer for the motorcycle only RoSPA group ARNY (Advanced Riders North Yorkshire) and came to E-YARD for his car training. Once again, congratulations to Ian on adding to both his own and our groups tally of successes.

BikeSafe 2018
Humberside BikeSafe program for 2018 BikeSafe runs under the strapline of "Bridging the Gap" The gap it intends to bridge is between DVSA qualified motorcyclists and groups such as us, RoSPA, and other similar groups (IAM, ERS) As such the initiative isn't aimed at RoSPA associates or members, but those seeking to have a taste of what we can offer. Because of our partnership with BikeSafe (and Safer Roads Humber) and a need to 'sell' ourselves as the premier advanced training

Party Time!
'Tis the Season!! Well Saturday 9 December was a busy day for E-YARD, with the inaugural Driver Progressive Development Course in the daytime and the Christmas 'Do' in the evening. Most of the group members met up for a drink in "Nellie's" a real Victorian feeling pub in Beverley town centre actually called the White Horse. A myriad of little gas lit rooms, the pub has a fantastic atmosphere, and with draft bitter at £2.00 a pint.... The group were booked into Sleepers Bar a

Driver Progressive Development!!
StartFragment It all started with a discussion around the end of summer, looking at developing a program for our car section that reflected the social aspect of training enjoyed by the motorcycle side. It was decided that to supplement the one to one training E-YARD provided, to start a car driver training sessions, three associate's with one tutor. The idea being that as one associate was, literally, in the driving seat, two more associates would also benefit from 'driving'

...and you did WHAT in the Summer???
I did some training at HERIB (Hull and East Riding Institute for the Blind) and saw a poster “Are you up for a challenge? Why not try driving a car blindfold?” This sounds good I thought, and on reading further discovered it was an event to raise funds for the charity. What could be better than combining the two!! I arranged I would travel with the group to Sheffield rather than the option of going alone and shopping at Meadowhall (yuk!). On reflection, I would rather have

November Review
Welcome to our monthly review of E-YARD's activity. Well! What a month! RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders (RoADAR) have been restructuring various aspects of the organisation. This has included redefining group constitutions to create a national standard that groups can work towards. Other aspects include standardising Tutor training and accreditation with both Group and Advanced Tutor roles being defined. E-YARD have been one step ahead of this program with our Tutor progr
