Rain, Rain, Go Away... With days and days of extensive flooding and continuous rainfall, it has been a very quiet month, both training and news-wise. Whilst November wasn't the wettest on record nationally, our area did have one of the worst on record. On several days the rainfall was heavy over East Yorkshire whilst it was dry 30 miles north! Monthly Meeting - November 19
On an atrocious night, bitterly cold and wet, Beverley Golf Club welcomed a fantastic turnout of RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders East Yorkshire (E-YARD). Secretary Chris Hood delivered a a back-to-basics presentation on 'The System' The presentation served as a refresher for members and tutors, and an introduction for the new associates who had braved the night. Engaging the Army!
Road Safety Week is an annual event that is arranged and supported by Brake the Road Safety Charity. RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders East Yorkshire (E-YARD) were invited to promote Road Safety Week at Leconfield - Defence School of Transport (DST) by Safer Roads Humber as part of the initiative. Humberside Fire and Rescue gave a demonstration of vehicle extraction, assisted by Humberside Police to the students and staff of DST. E-YARD were given the opportunity to 'spread t


Into November and Beyond!
It's been a little quiet as the Autumn turns to Winter and the weather starts to throw its worse at us! Just a little update regarding whats coming up over the winter months! Wednesday 20 November - E-YARD are being represented at the Leconfield Road Safety event. This is a closed event (not open to the general public) Wednesday 27 November - Monthly E-YARD meeting at Beverley Golf Club commencing at 1930hrs. Topic has yet to be confirmed, but it will be something to look for


The Tiger Roars!
Rod McAndrew took his RoSPA Advanced Riders motorcycle test on 11 November, qualifying as the latest member of E-YARD to earn his right to Care on the Road! In challenging conditions, including a couple of flooded roads (one he chose to ride through - the other seeing the examiner bottle out!) Rod delivered a great ride to become a full member of RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders, shedding his 'Associate' status. A big congratulations to Rod, and a well done to Rosie and Pipp


Scoot Review
Circumstances can be bring about some surprises. A punctured tyre for example... Out on my BMW R1200RT, when something went into the tyre causing a 2cm cut in the central tread area. Deflation within 30 seconds, from the initial twitch of the rear to watching the pressure on the dash dropping from 2.7bar to 1.8, to 1.2, to 0.5..by the time I got to stop and dismounted, the gauge was down to zero.
