August Review '19
August started with fantastic mid-summer weather for the monthly Coddiwomple.
With a couple of guests, the group had a social ride to Lincolnshire, taking in Willingham Woods, the International Bomber Command Centre and Skegness.
A great day had by all.
Pippa, back from Kyrgystan (she may have mentioned it once or twice!!) was busy through the month with her tutoring duties, out with Chris C and Neil delivering the best training available.
Rosie was also out delivering the goods, with check rides on some new members as well as tutoring Big Dave!
Meanwhile, our partnership with BikeSafe Humberside continued, as a full workshop was supported by Group Bike Tutor, Andy T and Advanced Bike Tutor Ian, who assessed a couple members of the Norton Owners Club, albeit one was on a Honda!
Traffic Sergeant Stu Farquarson, lead of BikeSafe Team passed on his thanks to Andy and Ian, and the E-YARD in general for their ongoing consistent assistance in delivering the project.
E-YARD said a final good-bye to Dave Hardwick, who, as previously reported passed away in July.
Dave's funeral cortege was escorted by members of E-YARD at his wife, Sue's request.
After a reception at Beverley, some members went on a motorcycle ride along Dave's favourite route and had a commerorative cake at one of his favourite cafe's in Scarborough.
Guy Gregory, under the guidance of Ian Streets, qualified as the latest group tutor, having completed the E-YARD tutor training program and is now authorised and certificated by RoSPA - well done Guy!
E-YARD were represented at the Hornsea Bike Show over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Jo B, Andy B and Mark K formed this events team at the show, with the group Gazebo making it's first appearance - wise as the temperatures reached 30 degrees - phew!
More interest was generated with attendees signing for the free membership draw.
The Monthly meeting took place on the 4th and final Wednesday of the summer, with Dave P chairing a discussion on the merits or otherwise, of Electric Vehicles, as the world turns against fossil fuel driven internal combustion engines.
Following a Committee Meeting, E-YARD will be developing Sub Committees for various projects, either ongoing or one off's such as Events, Media, Training etc. and would like to invite both Associates and Members who wish to be involved to contact the Chair or Secretary for more information. It is YOUR group, and as it grows, needs your input in how to move forward in all areas, so please let us know!
E-YARD September Coddiwomple will take place on Sunday 1 September meeting between 0800 and 0900 at the Beverley Golf Club - the intended ride is out into the three Ridings of Yorkshire.
E-YARD are planned to have a presence at the Hull RSPCA Annual Motor Bike Show starting at 1100 Sunday 8 September.
September monthly meeting will take place at the Golf Club on Wednesday 25 September at 1930hrs. Subject / speaker yet to be confirmed.
