October '21 Round Up

The end of the season before the clocks turn back and the long winter months commence!

E-YARD (RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Rider East Yorkshire) opened Octobers account with club member Andy Jenkinson acheiving a high standard of riding on his RoADAR Advanced motorcycle test.

A cracking result with thanks also going to his tutor Guy G.

Saturday 9 October was the famous Satruday Monthly Coddiwomple, meeting at Beverley and led by top bloke and quality Group Tutor Adam 'Mr Orange' Abel! A jaunt over the Howardian Hills and on to Thirsk with a strong contingent of the club enjoying a great day's riding.

Some of the usual Coddiwomplers weren't present as there was a contingent of the club invading France and doing a tour of the Normandy landing beaches. The trip had been arranged by another top quality Group Tutor Andy B. The group had initially attended the (very wet) 2021 Ride To The Wall event at the National Arboretum. They then made their way south heading from Plymouth to Roscoff for an extended break visiting many sites of historical interest and a few bars!

Plenty of training over the month with new members also receiving their initial assesments with Rosie, pre test assesemnts, and general tutoring by the Tutor Hub on some quite warm and pleasant late Autumn days.

Mid October saw a small group of E-YARD-er's at Croft Race circuit on a machine handling course.

Some diverse machinery there, but all gaining new skills which were directly transferable to the road.

Development of the in-house machine handling course - E-YARD Bike Bonding Course - continued with Paul M and Hoody inducting Ian S and Rosie into the training programme and developing the course with a view to delivering it to group members in the near future.

The Sunday October Coddiwomple on 24 October saw an unseasonably warm ride to Skegness, from Beverley via Claytons Corner Cafe. Apparently wet on the North Bank, Hoody's last minute decision to head south paid dividends!

The monthly meeting at the end of October saw Advanced Tutor Pippa deliver a presentation entitled Plan B - what to do after plan A isn't an option! She explored night time riding techniques, mid corner 'emergencies' and how to deal with the shebang if there's no options left open - finding a soft spot to land!
