Good news to start the Summer!

As flaming June appeared, the government of England lifted some of the regulation regarding the Covid rules.

On 2 June the Chairs and Secretaries of RoADAR groups received notification from Amy Brant at HQ informing us that motorcycle training could resume and that examining would recommence from 15 June.

"Dear Chairman and Secretary

I trust you are keeping safe and well and enjoying the summer weather.

In line with recent announcements from the government, I am pleased to confirm that of Tuesday 2nd June RoADAR groups in England and Northern Ireland that operate a motorcycle section can resume practical tutoring and ride outs.

Any activity must be in accordance with the latest government advice on social distancing, so this means that no more than six people should be on a ride out.

While this is for England and Northern Ireland only at this stage, we are keeping a close watch on developments in Wales and Scotland and will update our guidance when the situation in those countries changes. Those in England are advised that they should not cross the border into Wales or Scotland.

Please note that any theory work, group meetings and any other face-to-face operations that do not include practical elements must still be delivered via internet video applications.

We will resume all testing for motorcyclists in England as of Monday 15th June. For those that have applied for a test and are already in the system, an examiner will contact them in due course; those wishing to apply from June 15th onwards must bear with the HQ team while we process and allocate the tests.

RoSPA HQ remains closed to staff and most personnel are furloughed, so capacity is currently limited. Some members of the team will soon be returning to work from home and will be focusing primarily on testing and membership, so any queries outside of this will not be able to be answered straight away.

In relation to car testing our stance remains the same. We are constantly reviewing the changing situation and will keep all updated in the coming weeks.

Finally I want to thank you for your patience and understanding. This has been an incredibly strange and tough time for everyone in the country, and please rest assured that we are working hard to ensure we can return to some semblance of normality as the government guidelines allow.

In the meantime, please ride safely and I look forward to seeing your stories of riding in Care on the Road!

Best wishes

Amy
