July Review '19

July can be a strange month, the weather can go from torrential to super-hot neither of which are comfortable for training, and it's also a month when school holidays and family commitment time comes about!

2019's offering decided to offer some really scorching weather, but did lend itself to some great days that were comfortable too.

We must, however, start this months review with the sad news that Dave Hardwick, one of the groups Advanced Tutors, passed away following a short battle with cancer.

Dave was a really friendly and engaging man, with a good approach to tutoring and group activity.

Dave made a great impression on everyone he met with his gentle nature.

Having attended the training weekend in Scotland last September, where he qualified as advanced tutor, he impressed colleagues from other groups present at the weekend and his loss has been felt by them too, with John Forrester of the RoADAR North Cumbria & S.W. Scotland group and Colin Blackley of RoADAR East Kilbride group offering their condolences.

E-YARD Was represented at the annual Crowle Emergency services day on Saturday 13 July, sharing the Safer Roads Humber stand.

Julia and Carolyne flew the RoSPA flag and had a fun day spreading the word and joining in the activities - especially where the big uniform lads were!

Briliiant exposure for the group, which continued at the Driffield SHow the following Wednesday when the group was again represented by Julia, but this time with Dave Pattenden assisting.

At both events, the offer of a free draw for a years membership of E-YARD was offered, with the final draw planned for the end of the season after all the summer events have been attended.

Plenty of training in July, with Rosie being out there almost none stop!

Pippa also managed a fair bit of training sandwiching a trip to Kyrgystan inbetween!

Rosie led another Coddiwomple heading over some challenging roads from the Golf Club to Thirsk and then on to Hawes before returning for the traditional Seaways cuppa, on Sunday 14 July

Humberside Police BikeSafe July workshop took place on 20 July with the club being represented by Rosie and Ian.

Some kind words from the co-ordinator, Howie Fordham were received after the event

"Can you please pass on my thanks to Rosie and Ian for their assistance at todays workshop. Hopefully some will go on to further training"

As the month drew to a close, Beverley Golf club played host to E-YARD's monthly meeting, which saw Vice Chair, Jo Bowers hold a minutes silence for Dave Hardwick as it commenced.

Four new members (all motorcycle) were welcomed, Daniel, Daniel, Mark and Ryan

All will commence their training very shortly, once Tutors are free and available

Julian Taylor, Training Officer delivered a presentation on Limit Points.

Total free training delivered between car and bikes was approximately 56hrs.

August monthly meeting will be 7:30pm, Wednesday 28 August at the Beverley Golf Club, the topic has yet to be confirmed, but it is likely to be "Electric Vehicles - The Future, The Problems"
