E-YARD have supported Safer Roads Humber, Humberside Police BikeSafe throughout the 2017 season. The weekend of September 9 & 10 saw the last BikeSafe of the 2017 season. This event was one of only two, full weekend 'Workshops' this year. The usual format of BikeSafe is a one day 'taster', comprising a morning theory session based on an interactive video and one to one input from a BikeSafe practitioner. E-YARD was invited to attend a meeting at the Hull Rotary Club, Wednesday 06/09/2017 with guest speakers Julian T (was!) volunteered to be the group representative Julian's brief was to deliver a talk entitled, ”Driving longer and safer “ The theme was targeted at older members who were well into retirement age The Rotary Club wanted some information regarding how they can drive longer in life and how to drive safer - the latter certainly being an area we have the skills in!
Saturday 9 September saw E-YARD supporting the UKRO Challenge (UK Rescue Organisations) at the KCOM Stadium in Hull. Invited to assist in the promotion of road safety by the Safer Roads Humber team Dave P, Alwyn, Guy and Chris staffed two stands at the event. Mid Summer was a fairly quiet time, with a lot of folk on holiday with families. August started with a group meeting at East Coast Motorcycle World on the first of the month. This meeting saw a presentation on Tyre Grip/Trade Off which was a lively session with members getting involved in great debate! Title says it all!! Congratulations to our very own Alwyn (Erroll!) Alwyn took his RoADAR Advanced Motorcycle Test on his trusty Kawasaki W800 on Tuesday 5 September and delivered a text-book ride. Alwyn has been a member of E-YARD in 2016 and had been under the tuition of John 'Norge' Wright. UKRO Challenge (United Kingdom Rescue Organisation) is being held in Hull and hosted by the Humberside Fire & Rescue Service. The event forms part of the Hull City of Culture 2017 events. The main events are competitive rescue challenges.
